Cream Scones

The perfect recipe to bake on a Sunday morning to make the house smell delicious!

  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 5 tbsp cold butter, cut into cubes
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • ½ cup currants, optional


  • Preheat oven to 425°F (218°C).
  • In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, sugar and salt.
  • Add in the cubes of butter and combine (I just use my hands) until it forms a crumbly consistency.
  • Add the heavy cream (and optional currants) and mix together with a spatula.
  • Cover a flat surface with flour. Kneed the dough into a sticky ball.
  • Flatten the dough and cut into wedges or desired shape.
  • Place onto a baking sheet and top with crystalized brown sugar.
  • Bake for about 10-12 minutes, or until browned on the top.
