Preheat oven to 425°F (218°C).
In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, sugar and salt.
Add in the cubes of butter and combine (I just use my hands) until it forms a crumbly consistency.
Add the heavy cream (and optional currants) and mix together with a spatula.
Cover a flat surface with flour. Kneed the dough into a sticky ball.
Flatten the dough and cut into wedges or desired shape.
Place onto a baking sheet and top with crystalized brown sugar.
Bake for about 10-12 minutes, or until browned on the top.
