Cream Scones
The perfect recipe to bake on a Sunday morning to make the house smell delicious!
Ingredients
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 3 tbsp sugar
- ½ tsp salt
- 5 tbsp cold butter, cut into cubes
- 1 cup heavy cream
- ½ cup currants, optional
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425°F (218°C).
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, sugar and salt.
- Add in the cubes of butter and combine (I just use my hands) until it forms a crumbly consistency.
- Add the heavy cream (and optional currants) and mix together with a spatula.
- Cover a flat surface with flour. Kneed the dough into a sticky ball.
- Flatten the dough and cut into wedges or desired shape.
- Place onto a baking sheet and top with crystalized brown sugar.
- Bake for about 10-12 minutes, or until browned on the top.
