Ponzu Spicy Salmon and Avocado

spicy salmon recipe with avocados, jalapeños and ponzu sauce

This spicy salmon recipe served with creamy avocado, extra thinly sliced jalapeños, plenty of cilantro, and doused in a tangy ponzu sauce is one of my favorite meals to keep on rotation. It’s so fresh and flavorful, plus I feel healthy eating it!!!

Ingredients (feeds 2)

  • 2 salmon fillets
  • 1 jalapeño, thinly sliced
  • 1 bunch fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 2 avocados, sliced
  • 2 limes, juiced
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup teriyaki sauce

Method

  1. On a skillet over medium heat, cook the salmon fillets for about 5-7 minutes per side (I like to sear the sides as well to get everything crispy), until the fish is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.
  2. While the salmon is cooking, slice the jalapeño into very thin slices and chop the cilantro for garnishing.
  3. Prepare the ponzu sauce. In a small bowl, mix together the juice of two limes, soy sauce, and teriyaki sauce. Stir to combine.
  4. Just before serving, slice the avocados.
  5. The assemble: move each salmon fillet to a plate with the sliced avocado. Top with jalapeño, ponzu sauce, and cilantro.

Enjoy!!!
